AC Repair in Newman Lake

When your air conditioner stops cooling, we find the actual fault, show you the part that failed and explain your options in plain words. You get a written quote before any work begins, and you decide what happens next.

What AC repair covers, and when it makes sense

A central air conditioner is a short chain of parts: a thermostat that calls for cooling, an indoor blower that moves air across a cold coil, and an outdoor unit where the compressor and condenser fan push heat outside. When one link weakens, the whole system struggles. Most cooling problems trace back to a handful of components, and many are modest repairs.

Our job is to tell you which link failed and why. Sometimes it is a worn capacitor or a clogged drain line. Sometimes it is a compressor near the end of its life, and then we explain plainly whether repair still makes sense or whether AC installation is the better use of your money.

A system that sits idle through a long Inland Northwest winter often shows its weak spots on the first hot week of summer. Catching those early keeps a small fault from becoming a larger one.

What a repair visit includes

A full diagnostic check

We test the thermostat, electrical components, refrigerant pressures, airflow and drainage rather than guessing from one symptom. The diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair.

A plain explanation of the fault

We show you the failed part or the reading that points to it and explain what it does. If a photo makes it clearer, we take one.

A written quote before work begins

You see the repair, the parts and the price on paper first. Nothing starts until you approve it.

Careful work inside and out

We protect floors near the indoor unit, keep the area around the outdoor condenser tidy, and take old parts and packaging with us.

A test run before we leave

Once the repair is done, we run the system through a full cooling cycle and check temperatures at the vents so you know it is actually working.

Signs your air conditioner needs attention

  • Warm air from the vents

The blower runs but the air feels barely cool. This often points to a refrigerant issue, a failed capacitor or a condenser that is not running.

  • The outdoor unit hums but will not start

A humming condenser that never spins up usually means a weak capacitor or a struggling compressor. Shut it off to avoid further strain and have it checked.

  • Ice on the lines or coil

Frost on the copper line outside or on the indoor coil suggests low airflow or low refrigerant. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

  • Water near the indoor unit

Air conditioners pull moisture from the air and drain it away. A clogged condensate line can back up and spill onto the floor.

  • Short cycling

The system starts and stops every few minutes without cooling the house. Causes range from a thermostat problem to an oversized or overheating unit.

  • New noises or smells

Grinding, squealing or a burning smell are worth a call before they become a breakdown.

How a repair visit runs

  1. 1

You call and describe the problem

Tell us what you are noticing and when it started. We schedule a visit, and if the house is unsafe to stay in, our 24/7 emergency HVAC repair is there with no emergency or after-hours fees.

  2. 2

We diagnose before we suggest anything

We check the system from thermostat to condenser and narrow the fault down with readings, not hunches.

  3. 3

    We explain your options

You hear what failed, what repairing it involves and, where it matters, how the age of the system affects the decision. Then you get a written quote.

  4. 4

    We repair and test

With your approval, we make the repair, run the system, confirm it is cooling properly and clean up before we go.

What affects the cost of AC repair

Repair costs depend on which part failed and how hard it is to reach. We price each job after diagnosis, and you see the full amount in writing before we start.

The part that failed
A capacitor, contactor or drain line is a smaller job than a fan motor, coil or compressor. Parts for older systems can also be harder to source.
Refrigerant needs
If the system is low, we look for the leak first, since topping off without a repair only delays the problem. Older units using phased-out refrigerant cost more to recharge.
Where the equipment sits
When the indoor coil and blower are squeezed into an attic or low crawlspace, every step of the repair moves more slowly and adds labor. Equipment in an open basement or utility closet is quicker to reach and service.
Age and condition of the system
On an older unit, we will tell you honestly if a costly repair is likely to be followed by another, so you can weigh it against replacement.

AC repair questions

Something not covered here? (509) 584-3470

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?

It depends on the age of the system, the cost of the repair and how often it has needed work. A single failed part on a sound unit is usually worth fixing. If the compressor fails on an aging system, we lay out both paths so you can compare them. We do not push replacement when a repair will serve you well.

Is there a charge for the diagnostic visit?

Yes, there is a diagnostic fee for repair visits, and it is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with it. The quote you get by phone is free, and you get a written quote before any work begins.

Can I do anything before you arrive?

Check that the thermostat is set to cool and the breaker for the outdoor unit has not tripped. Replace the air filter if it is dirty. If you see ice on the lines, switch the system off and run only the fan so it can thaw.

Why does my AC struggle more during smoky summer weeks?

Wildfire smoke and dust load filters and coils quickly, which cuts airflow and makes the system work harder. Changing filters more often during those stretches helps. Regular tune-ups through one of our maintenance plans keep coils clean before the season starts.

Do you repair heat pumps and mini-splits too?

Yes. Heat pumps and ductless mini-splits cool the same way a central air conditioner does, and we diagnose and repair them using the same careful approach.

Get your cooling back with a clear plan

Tell us what your system is doing and we will talk you through the likely causes and next steps. If it cannot wait, we handle urgent cooling failures around the clock.
