ServicesAC Installation

AC Installation in Newman Lake

A new air conditioner should match your home, your furnace and the way you live, not just the biggest box on the truck. We measure, explain each option in plain terms and install it neatly, with a written quote before any work begins.

When a new air conditioner is the right call

Central air pairs an outdoor condenser with an indoor coil that sits on top of your furnace. When one of those parts is old, leaking refrigerant or no longer made, replacing the system often costs less over time than repairing it again. If your unit is still sound, we will tell you, and AC repair may be all you need.

Our job on a quote visit is to help you understand what you are buying. We explain what SEER2 ratings mean for your power bill, why single-stage and variable-speed units feel different on a warm afternoon, and when a heat pump might serve you better. Estimates are free on installations and replacements, and you decide with the facts in front of you.

What comes with your new air conditioner

Sizing done by calculation

Square footage, windows, insulation and how much sun the house gets all go into the size we pick. Too large a unit cools quickly, stops short and leaves the air damp; too small a unit runs nonstop and still can't keep up.

An outdoor unit and coil made to work together

We select the condenser and indoor coil as a set so the refrigerant side delivers its rated performance. Parts that don't match are a frequent reason a newer AC never feels right.

A level pad and a neat line set

The condenser rests on a level pad with room around it for airflow and future service. The refrigerant lines are insulated, run neatly and sealed where they go through the wall.

Evacuation, charging and electrical

A deep vacuum removes moisture from the lines before the refrigerant is released, and we check the charge against the manufacturer's specs. We inspect or update the disconnect, breaker and thermostat wiring so the system starts up safely.

Permit and a clean finish

We obtain the required permit, keep your floors covered while we work, haul off the old equipment and sweep up before we go.

Signs it may be time for a new AC

Repeated refrigerant top-offs
Refrigerant does not get used up. If you need it added every summer, there is a leak, and on older coils that leak usually returns.
It runs but rooms stay warm
A system that runs constantly on hot days without reaching the setpoint may be worn out or sized wrong from the start. We can tell you which.
Older R-22 equipment
Units charged with R-22 rely on a refrigerant that is no longer produced, so every recharge gets harder to justify. A new system uses current refrigerant and parts that are easy to find.
Power bills creeping up
Worn compressors and fan motors draw more power each season. A modern unit often cools the same home on noticeably less electricity.
A big repair on an aging unit
When a compressor or coil fails on an older system, we show you the repair cost next to replacement so the choice is clear.

How installation day goes

  1. 1

    Quote visit and options

We look at your current system, measure the home and walk you through two or three sensible choices. You get a written quote listing the equipment and the work, line by line.

  2. 2

    Arrival and protection

On install day we lay down floor coverings, shut off power to the old unit and recover its refrigerant properly instead of venting it.

  3. 3

    Removal and setting new equipment

The old condenser and coil come out, the new pad goes down and the matched equipment is set, piped and wired. Most replacements finish in a single day.

  4. 4

    Startup and walkthrough

We start the system, test temperatures and pressures, and show you the thermostat and filter. Before we leave, you know how it works and what to watch for.

What moves the price of a new air conditioner

We settle on a number only after we have seen your home, your furnace and the spot where the outdoor unit will sit. The written quote names each piece of equipment and each task, and nothing changes unless you approve it. Four things shape the total more than anything else.

System size
Capacity is set by the load calculation. Larger homes or homes with lots of west-facing glass need more cooling, and the price follows.
Efficiency and staging
Higher SEER2 and variable-speed units cost more up front but run quieter and use less power. We explain the trade so you can choose what fits your budget and summers.
Your furnace and indoor space
The coil has to fit your furnace and closet. An older furnace or tight attic or crawlspace access can add labor or parts.
Electrical and placement
A new disconnect, breaker or longer line set adds to the job. So does moving the outdoor unit to a better spot.

Common questions about a new AC

What size AC does my house actually need?
We work it out from the house itself, not the label on the unit you have now. Plenty of older systems were too big to begin with, so copying the old size can carry the same problem forward. You see the figures that lead to our recommendation.
Would a heat pump serve me better than central air?
That comes down to how you heat now and what you want from the system. A heat pump cools just as an AC does and also heats efficiently for most of the year, often with the furnace kept as backup for the coldest nights. We help with Avista rebates and federal tax credits on heat pumps, and the Heat Pumps page covers this choice in more depth.
Does my furnace have to be replaced too?
Not necessarily. When the furnace is healthy and the new coil fits it, we can put in the AC by itself. If the furnace is close to worn out, we explain what you gain by replacing both at once, and you make the call.
How many days will the install take?
A simple swap is usually done in a day. Adding central air to a house that has never had it can run longer, and your quote states the expected timeline.
Does the quote cost anything?
No. Installation and replacement estimates are free, and the written quote comes before any work starts. You are under no obligation to move forward.

Talk through your options before summer heat arrives

We will measure your home, explain what each system means for comfort and cost, and put it all in writing. Booking the quote visit takes one short phone call.
